Northern saw-whet owl banded in Brookings, SD at the Dakota Nature Park
Late at night in the breeding season, males give a rhythmic tooting song that may go on for hours with scarcely a break. The bird was named for this song, which reminded settlers of the sound of a whetstone sharpening a saw.
This is a watercolor painting with analogous colors. I decided to try ‘crumpled Saran Wrap’ in creating the background.
I did this watercolor painting for my online weekly art group challenge. The challenge was to paint something white which requires using colors that are reflected in the white.
